HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Thomas M. Schultz
4on the occasion of his retirement from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire
5Protection District after 29 years of dedicated service; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz earned his associate's degree in
7fire science from the College of DuPage in 2003; he
8subsequently earned his bachelor's degree in business
9management from Benedictine University in 2006; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz began his career as a firefighter
11in 1978; he started his career as a fire cadet at John Hersey
12High School in Arlington Heights; he then became a fire fighter
13with the Elk Grove Township Fire Department; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz began his long tenure with the
15Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District on July 2, 1982; in
161993, he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant; in 2005, he
17was promoted to the rank of captain; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz was a longtime member of the
19Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District Dive Rescue Team,
20where he served as coordinator for many years; in 2004, he
21became the Fire Science Coordinator for the College of DuPage,

1where he continues to serve today; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz became a licensed paramedic in 1986
3and maintained his license until 1999; during his career, he
4obtained many State Certifications, including Haz Mat
5Awareness and First Responder, Certified Firefighter III, Fire
6Apparatus Engineer, Fire Officer I, II, and III, and Fire
7Prevention Officer; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz was the recipient of many awards
9from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District, including
10the Award of Merit in 1984,1989,1991,1994, and 2011, Company
11Citations in 2002, 2006, and 2009, and 2 individual citations
12in 1984; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Thomas Schultz has been married to his loving
14wife, Robin, since 1984; he has 3 children, Michael (wife,
15Dawn), Christopher, and Patrick; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we congratulate Thomas M. Schultz on the occasion of his
19retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement
20years; and be it further
