HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mary
4Price, who passed away on March 3, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Price was born on February 23, 1911, in
6Meridian, Mississippi; she was adopted by Archie and Clarinda
7Barnes; she married the love of her life, Jack Robert Price, on
8February 23, 1967; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mary Price was employed at the Woodmill Hotel on
1046th and Woodlawn during the 1960s; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Mary Price joined the Progressive Baptist Church
12in 1943 under the leadership of the late Rev. T. E. Brown; she
13was an active member of the church and served on several
14stewardships within the church, including Sunday School Class
15#19, the Unity Club, the Senior Citizens Club, and the Bessie
16Sanford Mission; "Sister or Mother Price", as she was
17affectionately known, was a faithful member of the church for
1869 years; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mary Price enjoyed gardening, her pets, and her
20church; and

1    WHEREAS, Mary Price was preceded in death by her loving
2husband, Jack Price, and her brother, John T. Barnes; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Mary Price is survived by her daughter, LaToya
4Price-Childs; her son-in-law, Daniel K. Childs; her grandsons,
5Daniel and Kevin; her cousin, Lillie Mae Shack; her
6sisters-in-law, Ruby Barnes and Adeline Washington; her
7goddaughter, Theresa Johnson; her best friends, Mylee Funches,
8Hillman Francisco, Fannie Perry, Nick Childs, Andro Childs, and
9Blondell Ferrell; and her many other extended family members
10and friends; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of
14Mary Price; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Mary Price as an expression of our
17sympathy.
