HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Sarah Salameh, an esteemed resident of Plainfield
3and a senior at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy in
4Aurora, has achieved national recognition for exemplary
5volunteer service by receiving a 2012 Prudential Spirit of
6Community Award; and
 
7    WHEREAS, This prestigious award, presented by Prudential
8Financial in partnership with the National Association of
9Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across
10America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to
11serving their communities; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Sarah Salameh earned this award by spending last
13summer volunteering with the environmental group SCARCE
14(School and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting
15Education); much of Sarah's time was spent volunteering for the
16SCARCE Book Rescue by helping teachers in low-income schools
17select much-needed books and supplies; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength
19of our communities, and the overall vitality of American
20society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young
21people like Sarah Salameh who use their considerable talents
22and resources to serve others; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we congratulate Sarah Salameh on being a recipient of a 2012
4Prudential Spirit of Community Award, recognizing her
5outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and
6community spirit, and extend our best wishes for her continued
7success and happiness; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to Sarah Salameh as a symbol of our esteem.
