HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Susan Balling on
4her retirement as Assistant to the Director for the Northeast
5DuPage Special Recreation Association; and
 
6    WHEREAS, She began her career with the Northeast DuPage
7Special Recreation Association (NEDSRA) on May 23, 1977; she
8has provided the ethical leadership and mentoring of younger
9staff to build NEDSRA into a gold medal winning Association;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, She received her education at Southern Illinois
12University; she began her career with NEDSRA as the first
13Recreation Supervisor; she initiated the first 8 programs and
14the first 2 day camps; she has played a major role in growing
15those services to over 800 programs, camps, and services; and
 
16    WHEREAS, She was instrumental in creating the first local
17Special Olympics Track and Field Meet for any Special
18Recreation Association; in 1982, she was recognized as the
19Illinois Park and Recreation Association's Outstanding Young
20Professional; and
 
21    WHEREAS, In 1988, she was recognized as the Illinois

1Therapeutic Recreation Sections Outstanding Professional in
2Illinois; in 1996, she was recognized by the Illinois Park and
3Recreation Association (IPRA) with their Meritorious Service
4Award; and she received the Illinois Therapeutic Recreation
5Sections Distinguished Service Award in 1999; and
 
6    WHEREAS, She has served as a mentor for the NEDSRA staff as
7well as many other park and recreation professionals for over
830 years; she has published multiple articles for IPRA/IAPD
9magazine and presented at many parks and recreation State and
10national conferences; and
 
11    WHEREAS, She has organized the development and educational
12opportunities for the NEDSRA staff for over 30 years and has
13challenged all of the staff to reach their potential and strive
14for excellence in their personal performance; she has completed
15hundreds of studies for the board and staff and the field, in
16the course of delivering excellent services for people with
17disabilities; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we congratulate Susan Balling on her retirement and wish her
21the best in her future endeavors; and be it further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
