HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The children of the State of Illinois should have
3access to the highest-quality schools possible; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Citizens throughout the State of Illinois believe
5that improving the quality of education in the State and
6expanding access to highly-effective schools should be an issue
7of importance to our State's leaders; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The members of this body recognize the critical
9role that an effective and accountable system of education
10plays in preparing the children of this State to be successful
11in a global economy; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has a multitude of
13high-quality public schools, public charter schools, and
14non-public schools; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has many high-quality
16teaching professionals in public, private, and charter schools
17who are committed to educating children; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The vital cause of education reform is one that
19transcends ideology and political party affiliation; and

1    WHEREAS, Research performed in the State of Illinois and
2throughout the nation demonstrates conclusively that providing
3children with multiple schooling options improves academic
4performance; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we designate the week of January 22-28, 2012 as Illinois School
8Choice Week in the State of Illinois and call this observance
9to the attention of the citizens of this State.
