HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Michael J. Ellis on
4the occasion of his retirement as a Superintendent with the
5Illinois Department of Corrections on September 29, 2011, after
632 years of dedicated service; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Throughout his 32-year career, Michael Ellis was
8promoted by merit numerous times, ascending the ranks to serve
9as sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and major before becoming
10superintendent, where he remained until his retirement; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Michael Ellis touched the lives of many
12individuals in a positive manner in an effort to provide the
13supervision, guidance, and meaningful mentoring needed for
14them to become productive citizens; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Michael Ellis was well regarded within the
16Illinois Department of Corrections for his outstanding
17knowledge of its operations and his great dedication and
18productivity; he was the recipient of a citation from the
19Department for a total of thirty years of perfect attendance;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Michael Ellis is a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah

1Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Michael Ellis is married to Ruth Allen-Ellis; he
3has 3 sons, one step-daughter, and 4 grandchildren; therefore,
4be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate Michael J. Ellis on the occasion of his
8retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement
9years; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to Michael Ellis as a symbol of our esteem and
12respect.
