HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Peter Dogiakos on
4receiving the 2010 Volunteer of the Year Award from the Chicago
5Botanic Garden; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Before serving more than 4,400 hours as a
7volunteer at the Botanic Garden, he enjoyed a productive and
8successful career in sales management; he lives in Morton Grove
9and some of his favorite hobbies include fishing, bird
10watching, and gardening; and
 
11    WHEREAS, He is a people person, known for his dependability
12and his "can do" attitude; he is deeply respected by his
13volunteer teammates and the Garden staff, and has proven
14himself to be a trusted leader; the Chicago Botanic Garden
15staff includes him in the training of new volunteers in the
16Buehler Enabling Garden, where he also serves as a volunteer
17team leader; and
 
18    WHEREAS, He has volunteered to assist at several popular
19Garden events including HallowFest and Wonderland Express; he
20is also known for being thoughtful, kind, and compassionate
21with everyone with whom he interacts; and

1    WHEREAS, He eagerly engages in conversations with visitors
2to the Buehler Enabling Garden, taking care to point out
3special features, beautiful birds, and unique plantings that he
4finds especially interesting; he takes great pride in both
5maintaining the garden as well as ensuring that the bird
6feeders in the garden are always properly stocked for the many
7birds; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He received the award at a special ceremony held
9in June of 2011 at the Botanic Garden; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we congratulate Peter Dogiakos on receiving the 2010 Volunteer
13of the Year Award and thank him for his dedication to the
14Chicago Botanic Garden; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Peter Dogiakos as a symbol of our respect and
17esteem.
