HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ann Ford on her
470th birthday, July 26, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She was born in Indiana; her work in the field of
6independent living has taken her from Massachusetts to
7Illinois, where she currently resides in Springfield and serves
8as the Executive Director of the Illinois Network of Centers
9for Independent Living; and
 
10    WHEREAS, She has a Bachelor's degree from Roosevelt
11University in Chicago; she began her career in 1967 at the
12National Spinal Cord Injury Association; she was the first
13director of the Peoria Center for Independent Living; she later
14moved to Glen Ellyn and founded the DuPage Center for
15Independent Living; and
 
16    WHEREAS, In her work she has drafted legislation, served on
17the Governor's Disability Services Advisory Committee, the
18Advisory Committee for the Health Benefits of Workers with
19Disabilities, and other councils and advisory groups; and
 
20    WHEREAS, She is considered one of the leading authorities
21on disability rights in the State of Illinois and the Midwest

2    WHEREAS, Fittingly, her birthday is the same day that the
3Americans with Disabilities Act was passed; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6we congratulate Ann Ford on this momentous occasion and wish
7her continued happiness and good health for years to come; and
8be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to Ann Ford as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
