HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Robert A. Morris on
4the occasion of his retirement from a long and distinguished
5career as a city administrator; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Robert Morris has over 35 years of combined
7municipal service in the cities of Huntingburg, Indiana,
8Charleston, Missouri, Macomb, Illinois, and Washington,
9Illinois; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Robert Morris played an integral role in
11establishing Five Points Washington, a community center in
12Washington; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Robert Morris oversaw the purchase and complete
14renovation of the former library building in Washington into
15the new City Hall administrative building; he later began the
16process of renovating the former City Hall administrative
17offices building to house the new Police Department
18headquarters; these two renovation projects lessened the
19burden on taxpayers by utilizing older buildings instead of new
20construction; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Robert Morris is an integral member of the

1organizing team that brings the community together to spearhead
2cleanup efforts around the city during Washington's Take Pride
3in Washington Day each spring; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Robert Morris has served on the Board of Directors
5of Washington's Chamber of Commerce for the past six years; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Most notably, Robert Morris has balanced the City
7of Washington's budget without significantly diminishing the
8services the City provides to its citizens; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Robert A. Morris has served as a model of hard
10work, integrity, dedication, and success for the people of the
11State of Illinois; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate Robert A. Morris on the occasion of his
15retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement
16years; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Robert A. Morris as a symbol of our esteem and
19respect.
