1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Funeral Directors and Embalmers Licensing
5Code is amended by changing Section 1-5 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 41/1-5)
7    (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2013)
8    Sec. 1-5. Legislative intent. The The practice of funeral
9directing and embalming in the State of Illinois is declared to
10be a practice affecting the public health, safety and welfare
11and subject to regulation and control in the public interest.
12It is further declared to be a matter of public interest and
13concern that the preparation, care and final disposal of a
14deceased human body be attended with appropriate observance and
15understanding, having due regard and respect for the reverent
16care of the human body and for those bereaved and the overall
17spiritual dignity of man. It is further a matter of public
18interest that the practice of funeral directing and embalming
19as defined in this Code merit and receive the confidence of the
20public and that only qualified persons be authorized to
21practice funeral directing and embalming in the State of
22Illinois. This Code shall be liberally construed to best carry
23out these subjects and purposes.
