SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/11-416  from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-416

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that an additional fee of $20 shall be charged for each copy of a traffic accident report furnished by the Department of State Police, other State law enforcement agencies, or law enforcement agencies of local authorities. Provides that the additional fee shall be $100 in the case of an accident which was investigated by an accident reconstruction officer or accident reconstruction team. Provides that the additional fees designated for the Department of State Police shall be remitted by the Department of State Police to the State Treasurer within one month after receipt for deposit into the State Police Operations Assistance Fund, and that the additional fees designated for the Department of Natural Resources shall be remitted by the Department of Natural Resources to the State Treasurer within one month after receipt for deposit into the Conservation Police Operations Assistance Fund.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5Section 11-416 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/11-416)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 11-416)
7    Sec. 11-416. Furnishing copies - Fees.
8    (a) The Department of State Police may furnish copies of an
9Illinois State Police Traffic Accident Report that has been
10investigated by the State Police and shall be paid a fee of $5
11for each such copy, or in the case of an accident which was
12investigated by an accident reconstruction officer or accident
13reconstruction team, a fee of $20 shall be paid.
14    Other State law enforcement agencies or law enforcement
15agencies of local authorities may furnish copies of traffic
16accident reports prepared by such agencies and may receive a
17fee not to exceed $5 for each copy or in the case of an accident
18which was investigated by an accident reconstruction officer or
19accident reconstruction team, the State or local law
20enforcement agency may receive a fee not to exceed $20.
21    Any written accident report required or requested to be
22furnished the Administrator shall be provided without cost or
23fee charges authorized under this Section or any other

1provision of law.
2    (b) In addition to any other fees charged under this
3Section, the Department of State Police, other State law
4enforcement agencies, or law enforcement agencies of local
5authorities shall charge an additional $20 for each traffic
6accident report copy. In the case of an accident which was
7investigated by an accident reconstruction officer or accident
8reconstruction team, an additional $100 for each copy shall be
9charged.
10    (c) With respect to the additional fees designated for the
11Department of State Police in paragraph (b), the moneys shall
12be remitted by the Department of State Police to the State
13Treasurer within one month after receipt for deposit into the
14State Police Operations Assistance Fund.
15    (d) With respect to the additional fees designated for the
16Department of Natural Resources in paragraph (b), the moneys
17shall be remitted by the Department of Natural Resources to the
18State Treasurer within one month after receipt for deposit into
19the Conservation Police Operations Assistance Fund.
