SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
215 ILCS 5/143.19c new

    Amends the Illinois Insurance Code. Provides that no policy of automobile insurance may be cancelled where the basis for such cancellation is the insured's lack of a valid drivers license or valid instruction permit if the insurer failed to ask the insured for proof of a valid drivers license or valid instruction permit at the time the insured applied for coverage.

1    AN ACT concerning insurance.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding
5Section 143.19c as follows:
 
6    (215 ILCS 5/143.19c new)
7    Sec. 143.19c. Cancellation; valid drivers license. No
8policy of insurance as defined in subsection (a) of Section
9143.13 of this Act may be cancelled where the basis for such
10cancellation is the insured's lack of a valid drivers license
11or valid instruction permit if the insurer failed to ask the
12insured for proof of a valid drivers license or valid
13instruction permit at the time the insured applied for
14coverage.
