SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
35 ILCS 5/502.2 new

    Amends the Illinois Income Tax Act. Provides that the Department must print on its standard individual income tax form a provision that conspicuously identifies each exemption, credit, or deduction under the Act that is available to a taxpayer who is 65 years of age or older on the basis of his or her age. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning revenue.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Income Tax Act is amended by adding
5Section 502.2 as follows:
 
6    (35 ILCS 5/502.2 new)
7    Sec. 502.2. Senior exemptions, credits, and deductions.
8For tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2011, the
9Department must print on its standard individual income tax
10form a provision that conspicuously identifies each exemption,
11credit, or deduction under this Act that is available to a
12taxpayer who is 65 years of age or older on the basis of his or
13her age. The provision must allow the taxpayer or his or her
14authorized agent to check a box to assert the exemption or
15deduction and insert any appropriate value. The Department may
16adopt rules to enforce this Section.
 
17    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
18becoming law.
