AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1462

2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 1462 by replacing
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5changing Section 12-713 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/12-713)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-713)
7    Sec. 12-713. Commercial trucks used by construction
8contractors or subcontractors to display company name.
9    (a) Every second division vehicle operating commercially
10in this State that is used by a construction contractor or
11subcontractor shall display on the side of the vehicle or its
12trailer the name of the company for which it is employed. The
13name shall be in letters at least 2 inches tall and one-half
14inch wide. If the vehicle is used commercially as part of the
15business of a roofing contractor licensed under the Illinois
16Roofing Industry Licensing Act, the roofing contractor shall

1affix the roofing contractor license number and the licensee's
2name, as it appears on the license, on the vehicle. This
3Section shall not apply to any motor vehicle upon which is
4affixed the insignia required under Section 18c-4701 of the
5Illinois Commercial Transportation Law.
6    (b) Any person convicted of violating this Section shall be
7guilty of a petty offense and subject to a fine of not less
8than $500.
9    (c) If the vehicle is used commercially as part of the
10business of a roofing contractor licensed under the Illinois
11Roofing Industry Licensing Act, this Section may be enforced by
12code enforcement officials employed by units of local
13government while the vehicle is being used on a worksite
14located within the boundaries of the local jurisdiction. If an
15alleged violation of this Section has been corrected prior to
16or on the date of a hearing scheduled to adjudicate the alleged
17violation, the code enforcement official shall dismiss the
18violation. For purposes of this Section, "code enforcement
19official" means an officer or other designated authority
20charged with the administration, interpretation, and
21enforcement of codes on behalf of a municipality or county.

23    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
