SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Russel Roy Dagit of Pekin, who passed
4away on December 31, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born November 3, 1924, in Green Valley to
6Charles Adolf and Clara Elizabeth (Volk) Dagit; he married
7Alberta Florence Harlan on September 4, 1942, in Pekin; he
8later married Christal Elaine Miller on September. 4, 1966, in
9Peoria; and
 
10    WHEREAS, He was a stores control clerk at Caterpillar
11Incorporated, retiring in 1974 after 31 years of service; he
12had previously worked at Boss Glove Factory in Peoria and
13worked on the building of Camp Ellis during World War II; and
 
14    WHEREAS, He was a member of the Tazewell County Historic
15Places Society and the Tazewell County Museum and Educational
16Center, where he was an active volunteer building bookcases,
17shelves, and hanging most of the pictures in the picture
18gallery; he enjoyed building and repairing items for the
19museum; he helped in the research for the Dagit family history;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in

1Pekin, the Peoria Motorcycle Club, the Caterpillar Camping
2Club, and the McDonald's Coffee Club; he was an avid motorcycle
3rider, enjoyed the outdoors, and working in his garage; he
4often stated that work was his hobby; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; one
6brother, Louis Dagit; and one sister, Dorothy DeGroot; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Russel Dagit is survived by his wife; his sons,
8Roy (Debbie) Dagit and Everett (Sheila) Dagit; his daughter,
9Marnie Linda (Tommy) Lively; his 10 grandchildren; his 16
10great-grandchildren; and his 2 great-great-grandchildren;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of Russel Dagit; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Russel Dagit as a symbol of our
18sincere sympathy.
