SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Ray Michael Williams of Peoria, who
4 passed away on October 6, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Ray Williams was born on November 17, 1957, in St.
6 Louis, Missouri; he was born to the union of Elbert and L.V.
7 McClinton Williams; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Ray Williams was employed as an event planner; he
9 was also a volunteer at the "Helping Hands" Center in
10 Springfield; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Ray Williams, known as "Billy Ray" in his younger
12 years, enjoyed roller skating, playing handball, listening to
13 good music, and performing stand-up comedy; he also wrote an
14 autobiography titled "The Life & Times of Prince Billy"; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Ray Williams was preceded in death by his parents
16 and his eldest sister, Genova Dunn; and
 
17     WHEREAS, In 1976, Ray Williams and Marlene Davis became
18 parents to Orlando Antonio Davis; Orlando has two beautiful
19 children, Shila Destiny Davis and Antonia Ray Davis, who were
20 the highlight of Ray's life and were constantly woven

1 throughout the conversations of "Grandpa Ray"; he also leaves
2 behind his brothers, Elbert L. Williams and Andre Williams; his
3 sisters, Doris Shaw, Jerdean Watts, and Bertha Richardson; he
4 was also happy to recently meet and welcome his father's
5 daughter, Denise Day, into his loving family; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Ray Williams will be remembered by all who knew
7 and loved him as a fun loving person who loved to tell a good
8 story that was filled with laughter and fun; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Ray Michael Williams;
12 and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Ray Williams as an expression of our
15 sympathy.
