SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Donald J. Lahey of Round Lake, who passed
4 away on June 22, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on February 14, 1933 in Waukegan to
6 Margaret and James Lahey; he graduated from Warren High School
7 and enlisted in the United States Army thereafter; and
 
8     WHEREAS, After his time of service, he worked at the Great
9 Lakes Naval Base as a maintenance electrician where he met his
10 wife, Sheila (nee, Gesford); he joined IBEW Local #150
11 Electrical Union in 1964 and retired in 1995; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He was an enthusiastic golfer and bowler, an avid
13 reader, and a semi-enthusiastic Cubs, Bears, and Hawks fan; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years,
15 Sheila Anne Lahey; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He is survived by his children, Steven (Patti)
17 Lahey, Dale (Angelo) Caliendo, Susan (William) Ryan, and Daniel
18 (Lidia) Lahey; his sister, Phyllis (John) Elsbury; his
19 brothers, Richard (Pamela) Lahey and Leonard Lahey; his
20 grandchildren, Christopher Lahey, Steven Amann, Christina

1 Amann, Kelly Ryan, Nicole Lahey, Riley Lahey, and a grandson
2 born in June; his great-grandchild, Faith Saldivar; and his
3 granddogs, Dakota and Daisy; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
5 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
6 his family and friends, the passing of Donald Lahey; and be it
7 further
 
8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to the family of Donald Lahey as a symbol of our
10 sincere sympathy.
