SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of George J. Goding of Sugar Grove, who
4 passed away on July 19, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, George Goding was born on March 6, 1925 in
6 Chicago; he was the son of the late George and Florence Goding;
7 at the age of 8, he and his family moved to Aurora, where he
8 attended Bardwell School and graduated from East Aurora High
9 School in 1943; and
 
10     WHEREAS, George Goding served his country with pride and
11 distinction as a member of the United States Navy in the South
12 Pacific theatre during World War II; he ultimately gained the
13 rank of Coxswain First Class; and
 
14     WHEREAS, After returning home from the Navy, George Goding
15 attended Aurora College and started his career with Western
16 United/Commonwealth Edison; in 1958, he left Western United and
17 purchased what was to be known as Goding's Standard Service
18 Station in Aurora; the business has still remained in the
19 family for the past 51 years and has been recently operated by
20 his son, Mike; and
 
21     WHEREAS, George Goding was a member of the American Legion

1 and Veteran of Foreign Wars; he was well known for his deep
2 love for his country and his unwavering patriotism; and
 
3     WHEREAS, George Goding was preceded in death by his
4 parents; his sister, Florence Townsend; his dear
5 daughter-in-law, Diane Goding; and the beloved family dog,
6 Chopper; and
 
7     WHEREAS, George Goding is survived by his loving wife, Lois
8 (Bernard) Goding; his children, Michael Goding, Daniel Goding,
9 Mary (Bill) Wolodkiewicz, and Susan (Greg) Sullivan; his
10 grandchildren, Jennifer Lindgren, Joseph (Kate) Wolodkiewicz,
11 Jeffrey Wolodkiewicz, Elizabeth Wolodkiewicz, Sarah Goding,
12 Katherine Goding, Julie Goding, Megan Sullivan, Michael
13 Sullivan, and Timothy Sullivan; and his great-grandchildren,
14 Michael and Grace Lindgren; therefore, be it
 
15     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
16 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
17 his family and friends, the passing of George J. Goding; and be
18 it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to the family of George Goding as an expression of
21 our sympathy.
