SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Dr. Robert J. "Bob" Heaston of Naperville
4 and Vienna, Virginia, who passed away on February 20, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born March 3, 1931 in Kansas City, Kansas;
6 he received his B.S. and M.S. in chemical engineering from the
7 University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and a PhD in chemical
8 engineering from Ohio State University in Columbus; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He attended the National War College in Washington
10 D.C.; he was a longtime civil servant in the Department of
11 Defense, and served for eight years as the Director of GACIAC
12 at the Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute in
13 Chicago; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He was a faithful member of Christ Church of Oak
15 Brook and the Natural Philosophy Alliance (NPA); he loved to
16 write and enjoyed the intellectual pursuits of theoretical
17 physics, theology, psychology, and philosophy; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Dr. Heaston is survived by his true love, Joan
19 (Barnhisel) Heaston, whom he married December 29, 1956; he was
20 the loving father of John (Fran) Heaston, Barbara (Dan) Van Der
21 Werken, and Beth (Scott) Kanady; the loving "Papa" of Brittany,

1 Bobby, Tori, Ben, Alee, Lauren, Bekah, Sarah, Rachel, and
2 Lizzy; the son of the late Buzz and Mildred Heaston; the dear
3 brother of Jean (Marvin) Andrews, Jim (the late Devonna)
4 Heaston, Bill (Jane) Heaston, Chuck (Lynn) Heaston, Buzz (Ann)
5 Heaston, and the late Jane (the late Roger) Walker; and the
6 fond uncle of many; therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
8 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
9 his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Robert "Bob"
10 Heaston; and be it further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to the family of Dr. Robert Heaston as a symbol of
13 our sincere sympathy.
