SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of John J. "Jack" Maloney of Godfrey, who
4 passed away on December 28, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born June 20, 1925, in Alton, the son of
6 Roxie Ann "Blackburn" and John J. Maloney Sr; he married the
7 former Mary V. Gallagher on February 14, 1953; she preceded him
8 in death on May 21, 1994; he then married Erma Foster on
9 November 27, 1998; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Jack was a financial advisor for Edward Jones
11 Investments for 54 years; in 1956 he opened one of the first
12 branch offices of Edward Jones in Alton; he served his country
13 in the United States Army Air Force in the European Theatre
14 during World War II; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic
16 Church, the Wood River Knights of Columbus, and a charter
17 member of Lockhaven Country Club; he was also a member of the
18 University of Illinois Alumni Association; he received
19 bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of
20 Illinois; he played the tenor sax and clarinet with the Stan
21 Kenton Orchestra, and he also played with the Army Air Force
22 Band, and with various regional bands; his interests included

1 golf, horseracing, travel, and spending time with his family;
2 and
 
3     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife,
4 Mary; his sister, Bernadine Hegeman; and his brother, David
5 Maloney; and
 
6     WHEREAS, John Maloney is survived by his wife, Erma; his
7 four daughters, Lou Ellen and spouse, Don Markovitch, Janet and
8 spouse, Tim Donnelly, Jean Ann Maloney, and Linda and spouse,
9 Dave Maurer; his two sons, Jack and his spouse, Lin Maloney,
10 and Tom and his spouse, Carol Maloney; his grandchildren, Matt
11 Donnelly, Emily Donnelly, Michael Donnelly, Christy Raines,
12 Erin Maloney, Beth Maloney, David Maloney, Daniel Maloney,
13 Rachel Maloney, Michael Maloney, Ryan Maloney, Jenn Maurer, and
14 Sarah Maurer; and his great-granddaughter, Lily; therefore, be
15 it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
17 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
18 his family and friends, the passing of John Maloney; and be it
19 further
 
20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to the family of John J. "Jack" Maloney as a symbol
22 of our sincere sympathy.
