SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/11-601.5

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that a person who drives a vehicle upon any highway of this State at a speed that is 30 miles per hour or more but less than 40 miles per hour in excess of the applicable maximum speed limit established under the Illinois Vehicle Code or a local ordinance commits a Class B misdemeanor.

1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5 Section 11-601.5 as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 5/11-601.5)
7     Sec. 11-601.5. Driving 30 miles per hour or more in excess
8 of applicable limit. Driving 40 miles per hour or more in
9 excess of applicable limit.
10     (a) A person who drives a vehicle upon any highway of this
11 State at a speed that is 30 miles per hour or more but less than
12 40 miles per hour in excess of the applicable maximum speed
13 limit established under this Chapter or a local ordinance
14 commits a Class B misdemeanor.
15     (b) A person who drives a vehicle upon any highway of this
16 State at a speed that is 40 miles per hour or more in excess of
17 the applicable maximum speed limit established under this
18 Chapter or a local ordinance commits a Class A misdemeanor.
