HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Odie
4Marie Conner; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Odie Conner was born September 6, 1923, in
6Deberry, Texas; her parents were Alec Leary and Narsis Clark;
7she married Leon Conner on April 24, 1942, in Chicago; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Odie Conner attended church and grade school in
9Deberry, Texas; she then attended high school in Carthage,
10Texas after she and her family moved there in 1935; that same
11year, she was baptized and became a member of the Bethlehem
12Baptist Church, under the pastorate of Reverend Isaiah Barren;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Odie Conner was a devoted mother and housewife who
15was active in church and grade school activities; she was also
16a Cub Scout den mother and a faithful member of the PTA; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Odie Conner enjoyed fashion shows, where her
18beauty and taste always made her a winner; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Odie Conner was preceded in death by her parents;
20her siblings; and her children, Thomas Earl, Ralph Wesley, and

1Alva Cheryl; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Odie Conner is survived by her loving husband of
369 years, Leon; her daughters, Joy, Marilyn, and Melody; her
4sibling, Beater Thomas; her 13 grandchildren; her 15
5great-grandchildren; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins,
6and friends; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Odie
10Marie Conner; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Odie Conner as an expression of our
13sympathy.
