HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Data suggests that tuition charged Illinois
3 students attending college in an neighboring state, compared to
4 tuition charged out-of-state students at the University of
5 Illinois is considerably higher; and
 
6     WHEREAS, The University of Illinois currently charges
7 out-of-state students $20,732 compared to $26,160 at Indiana
8 University in Bloomington, $22,424 a the University of Iowa,
9 $23,063 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and $31,090 at
10 the University of Missouri; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13 request the Illinois Board of Higher Education to conduct a
14 cost-neutral analysis of what public universities charge
15 out-of-state students in Illinois compared to what is charged
16 in its surrounding states; and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That the Board shall report its finding to the
18 General Assembly on or before May 30, 2011; and be it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 delivered to the Illinois Board of Higher Education.
