HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kevin
4 Moran of Chicago; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Kevin Moran was born on July 4, 1921, in
6 Ballyhaunis, in County Mayo, Ireland; as a teenager, he left
7 Ireland for England to work construction jobs during World War
8 II; he also did stints as a radio operator in Ireland's army
9 and in the Irish Post Office; and
 
10     WHEREAS, In 1949, Kevin Moran moved to Chicago to live with
11 his cousins, the O'Dwyers; shortly after moving to Chicago, he
12 met Christine O'Neill; the couple married in 1954 and began
13 having children and moving the family back and forth from
14 Ireland to Chicago over the years, ultimately settling in
15 Chicago in 1981; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Kevin Moran worked for many years in the
17 construction industry; during his career, he worked on the
18 Willis Tower, the Aon Center, and numerous other buildings in
19 Chicago; he was well known by his peers for his artful,
20 expertly-crafted woodwork and his constant pursuit of
21 perfection in his work; he also traveled the country, working
22 on carpentry and construction projects in his children's and

1 grandchildren's homes in Illinois, California, and Kentucky;
2 and
 
3     WHEREAS, Kevin Moran was also well known by his family and
4 friends for his fierce loyalty to his family, his homeland of
5 Ireland, the United States, the Carpenters Union Local 13, and
6 the Democratic Party; he also enjoyed Irish culture and music,
7 particularly the concerts given by his youngest sons, and
8 arguing about politics, religion, and world history; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Kevin Moran is survived by his wife, Christine;
10 his sons, Patrick, Kevin, and Jackie; his daughters, Mary
11 Buckley, Fionnuala Wagner, Chistine Martin, Kathleen Welch,
12 Deirdre Pallasch, and Eileen Robertson; and his brother,
13 Gerald; therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Kevin
17 Moran; and be it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to the family of Kevin Moran as an expression of our
20 sympathy.
