HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sister Carolyn
4 Sieg, principal of St. Joan of Arch School in Lisle, on being
5 awarded the inaugural Bishop Kaffer Outstanding Principal
6 Award; and
 
7     WHEREAS, She was nominated by Father Gabriel Baltes of St.
8 Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Lisle; he was prompted to
9 nominate her based on her passion, boundless energy, and
10 exemplary faith leadership as a principal; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Sister Carolyn is a Benedictine sister of Sacred
12 Heart Monastery in Lisle; she has served as principal for the
13 past 42 years, was a teacher at the school before serving as
14 its principal, and was a student at the school as a child; and
 
15     WHEREAS, One of Sister Carolyn's main goals as principal
16 was to change the perception of the principal's office; instead
17 of children dreading a trip to the office for disciplinary
18 actions, now they are sent there for praise; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Sister Carolyn will receive the award on April 29,
20 2010 at the Principals' Meeting and Awards Breakfast hosted by
21 Lewis University; and

1     WHEREAS, The award, named in memory of the late Bishop
2 Roger Kaffer of the Diocese of Joliet, was started to recognize
3 a principal demonstrating excellence in the role of a Catholic
4 school administrator; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7 congratulate Sister Carolyn Sieg on her being awarded the
8 inaugural Bishop Kaffer Outstanding Principal Award and wish
9 her all the best in the future; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Sister Carolyn Sieg as a symbol of our respect and
12 esteem.
