HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Mark
4 Brockett, who passed away on August 30, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mark Brockett was born in March of 1984 in Joliet;
6 he was a lifelong resident of the Joliet/Elwood area; he
7 attended Elwood Grade School and graduated from Joliet Central
8 High School in 2002; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mark Brockett graduated from the University of
10 Illinois at Springfield in 2006; during his time at UIS, he was
11 a member of the newspaper staff and the recreation center staff
12 and served as the play-by-play announcer during many of the
13 university's home athletic events; and
 
14     WHEREAS, After graduating from UIS, Mark Brockett returned
15 to his childhood home, where he worked for Lemont High School
16 District #210 as an Assistant Intervention Advocate and Varsity
17 Boys Volleyball Coach; he also worked as a summer counselor for
18 the Joliet Park District; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Mark Brockett had a passion for all sports and
20 sports teams, especially the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears; he
21 also demonstrated his enthusiasm for football through his work

1 with the radio station WJOL; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Mark Brockett's greatest loves in life were his
3 family and his friends; he will always be remembered by his
4 friends and family for the love, honor, loyalty, and respect he
5 showed them each day; he will also be remembered for the
6 positive impact he made on the people around him by always
7 having a positive attitude and instilling that attitude not
8 only in his friends and family, but also in the volleyball
9 players and coaches at Lemont High School; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mark Brockett was preceded in death by his father,
11 Wendell D. Brockett; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mark Brockett is survived by his loving mother,
13 Kathleen (nee Rowan) Brockett; his brothers, James A. (Susana)
14 Surkein, Hank R. Brockett, and Neal R. Brockett; his niece,
15 Cynthia Surkein; his nephew, Dylan Surkein; his grandfather,
16 Wendell G. Brockett; his 3 aunts and 1 uncle; and his numerous
17 cousins; therefore, be it
 
18     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Mark
21 Brockett; and be it further

2 presented to the family of Mark Brockett as a symbol of our
3 sincere sympathy.
