HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Donald G. Brown on
4 his retirement from OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, He has served as Administrator of OSF Holy Family
7 Medical Center from April of 2007 to the present; he was CEO of
8 Community Medical Center (the previous name of OSF Holy Family
9 Medical Center) from February of 1997 to April of 2007; he
10 served as a hospital CEO/Administrator since 1962; and
 
11     WHEREAS, His professional memberships include serving on
12 the Board of Directors of the Illinois Provider Trust from 1999
13 to 2006; serving as a member of the Illinois Hospital and
14 Health Systems Association, serving on and chairing numerous
15 committees, including acting as Region 5 President in 1994;
16 serving on the National Board of Directors of the Federation of
17 American Health Systems for 16 years, including serving as
18 Regional Vice-President; serving as a member of the Small and
19 Rural Steering Committee from 1990 to present; serving as a
20 member and former Director of the Illinois Critical Access
21 Hospital Network from 2003 to present; serving as a member of
22 the OSF Healthcare System Ethics Committee; serving as a member
23 of the OSF Healthcare System Specialty Alignment Initiative

1 Committee; serving as a board member of the Wells Fargo
2 Community Bank Board from 2003 to the present; and serving as a
3 member of the OSF Healthcare System Executive Steering
4 Committee; and
 
5     WHEREAS, His community memberships include: serving as a
6 past board member of the Western Illinois Partnership for
7 Economic Development from 1999 to 2006; serving as past
8 Director of the Warren-Henderson County Economic Development
9 Board from 1999 to 2003; serving as a past member of the Board
10 of Directors of the Monmouth Chamber of Commerce from 1999 to
11 2003; and serving as a member of the First Christian Church in
12 Monmouth; and
 
13     WHEREAS, His professional accomplishments include;
14 completing a bond issue to remove Community Memorial Hospital
15 from city ownership; establishing restructuring in profitable
16 operations for Community Medical Center, allowing for over $4
17 million of renovations; recruiting fourteen physicians and six
18 physician assistants in Monmouth; establishing a seven day,
19 24-hour medical clinic within the hospital; and establishing
20 weekly specialty clinics; upgrading hospital-wide clinical
21 technology and computer systems; and
 
22     WHEREAS, In 1997, OSF Holy Family Medical Center had 187
23 employees, and in 2009 it has 263 through Donald Brown's

1 addition of services and the establishment of more jobs; he
2 established competitive salary and wage programs for
3 employees; he helped to establish a county health department;
4 and he was instrumental in completing the sale of assets from
5 Community Medical Center to OSF Healthcare, which ensured the
6 residents of Monmouth and surrounding areas quality healthcare
7 services for many years to come; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10 congratulate Donald Brown on his retirement and wish him all
11 the best in his future endeavors; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to Donald G. Brown as a symbol of our respect and
14 esteem.
