SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 5/6-306.8 new

    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the Secretary of State may terminate the suspension of person's driving privileges or vehicle registration for non-payment of certain fines or penalties related to the operation of a motor vehicle when the Secretary of State receives notification from the government entity that caused the person's suspension that the person has entered into a repayment plan and has made timely payments according to the plan for a period of 6 months.

1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding
5 Section 6-306.8 as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 5/6-306.8 new)
7     Sec. 6-306.8. Repayment plans; termination of suspension.
8 A municipality, a clerk of the court, or the Illinois Toll
9 Highway Authority, after making a report to the Secretary
10 pursuant to Sections 6-306.5, 6-306.6, or 6-306.7 of this Code
11 that resulted in the suspension of person's driving privileges,
12 vehicle registration, or both, shall notify the Secretary, on a
13 form prescribed by the Secretary, whenever a person named in
14 the report has entered into plan to make regular, partial
15 payments of the unsatisfied fines or penalties and has made
16 partial payments in a timely fashion according to the plan for
17 a period 6 months. A certified copy of the notification shall
18 also be given upon request and at no additional charge to the
19 person named therein. Upon receipt of the notification or
20 presentation of a certified copy of the notification in this
21 Section, the Secretary shall terminate the suspension.
