SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
745 ILCS 10/1-206   from Ch. 85, par. 1-206

    Amends the Local Governmental and Governmental Employees Tort Immunity Act. Adds to the definition of a "local public entity": an association of school districts, association of school boards, and any not-for-profit association, partnership, or other organization or entity organized for the purpose of conducting public business. Provides that these changes apply to pending actions as well as actions commenced on or after the effective date. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning civil law.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Local Governmental and Governmental
5 Employees Tort Immunity Act is amended by changing Section
6 1-206 as follows:
 
7     (745 ILCS 10/1-206)  (from Ch. 85, par. 1-206)
8     Sec. 1-206. "Local public entity" includes a county,
9 township, municipality, municipal corporation, school
10 district, association of school districts, school board,
11 association of school boards, educational service region,
12 regional board of school trustees, trustees of schools of
13 townships, treasurers of schools of townships, community
14 college district, community college board, forest preserve
15 district, park district, fire protection district, sanitary
16 district, museum district, emergency telephone system board,
17 and all other local governmental bodies. "Local public entity"
18 also includes library systems and any intergovernmental agency
19 or similar entity formed pursuant to the Constitution of the
20 State of Illinois or the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act as
21 well as any not-for-profit corporation, association,
22 partnership, or other organization or entity organized for the
23 purpose of conducting public business. It does not include the

1 State or any office, officer, department, division, bureau,
2 board, commission, university or similar agency of the State.
3     The changes made by this amendatory Act of the 94th General
4 Assembly do not apply to an action or proceeding accruing on or
5 before its effective date.
6     The changes made by this amendatory Act of the 96th General
7 Assembly apply to pending actions as well as actions commenced
8 on or after the effective date.

10     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
