SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Tony Chinino, who passed away on October
4 27, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Tony Chinino was employed with Nabisco for 37
6 years; during his time there, he would often load up his car
7 trunk with donated food and pass it out to his football players
8 whenever he could; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Tony Chinino was elected to be the 1st Ward
10 Alderman of the City of Oak Forest on April 1, 2003, serving
11 until his unfortunate passing; he most recently served as the
12 liaison to the Senior Citizens' Commission; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Tony Chinino worked for more than a decade with
14 the Oak Forest Raiders youth football team, where he developed
15 a sterling reputation as a dedicated coach, booster, and mentor
16 to kids; he also coached with the Oak Forest Baseball
17 Association; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Tony Chinino was well known for his unwavering
19 commitment to veterans issues; as an U.S. Army veteran of the
20 Vietnam War and in his capacity as alderman, he worked to bring
21 a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington,

1 D.C., entitled The Wall That Heals, to Oak Forest; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Tony Chinino is survived by his wife, Lynn; his
3 sons, Tony and Brian; his brothers, Eugene and Michael; his
4 sister, Patricia Wilfringer; and his grandson, Michael; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Tony Chinino will be remembered by all who knew
6 and loved him as an outspoken, forthright, and passionate
7 public servant whose generosity and willingness to work were
8 admired by all; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Tony Chinino; and be it
12 further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Tony Chinino as an expression of our
15 sympathy.
