SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Paul J. Stilwell of Godfrey, who passed
4 away on May 8, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born April 15, 1917, in Alton, the son of
6 Otto C. and Caroline (Hilt) Stilwell Sr.; on December 10, 1939,
7 in Alton, he married the former Adeline M. Wilkening; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Paul Stilwell was a firefighter for the city of
9 Alton for 31 years and the fire chief from 1970 until retiring
10 in 1977; he served in the Army Air Corps during World War II,
11 was an expert carpenter, loved hunting, was an avid Cardinal
12 fan, and enjoyed reading western novels; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in
14 Alton; and
 
15     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his
16 brothers, Ralph L., Otto C. Jr., and Walter H. Stilwell; and
17 his sisters, Helen Smith, Dorothy Ford, and Gertrude Oettle;
18 and
 
19     WHEREAS, Paul Stilwell is survived by his wife, Adeline;
20 his two sons, Richard Paul Stilwell and his wife, Helen M., and

1 Michael Stephen Stilwell and his girlfriend, Amanda Goon; his
2 grandchildren, Caroline Soo Stilwell, Joseph Paul Stilwell,
3 Jane E. Stilwell, and Evan M. Stilwell; his sister, Marian
4 Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
7 his family and friends, the passing of Paul J. Stilwell; and be
8 it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Paul J. Stilwell as a symbol of our
11 sympathy.
