    Amends the Veterans' Employment Representative Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the qualifications and duties of a Veterans' Employment Representative.

1     AN ACT concerning veterans.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Veterans' Employment Representative Act is
5 amended by changing Section 1 as follows:
 
6     (330 ILCS 50/1)  (from Ch. 48, par. 186a)
7     Sec. 1. Veteran services; representative. Each full
8 service office of the the Job Service shall assign at least one
9 full time Veterans' Employment Representative, defined by
10 title and classification under the Personnel Code of Illinois,
11 to work exclusively in job counseling, training, and placement
12 of veterans. Preference for these positions shall be given to
13 qualified persons who have been members of the armed forces of
14 the United States in times of hostilities with a foreign
15 country. Any candidate for these positions shall be deemed to
16 have met and satisfied examination admission requirements if
17 the candidate served in the armed forces during times of
18 hostilities with a foreign country and was honorably discharged
19 therefrom due to a combat-related disability. The holder of
20 such a position shall be administratively responsible to the
21 local office manager, and his or her first line responsibility
22 is functional supervision of all local office services to
23 veterans. He or she may also be delegated line supervision of

1 veteran units, assistant local veterans' employment
2 representative, or veteran aid. Individualized veterans'
3 services such as application taking, counseling, job referral,
4 or training will continue to be provided to veterans on a
5 priority basis by all local office staff.
