HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond
4 F. Shroyer of Sandwich, who passed away on March 8, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Raymond F. Shroyer was born on June 25, 1934 in
6 Chicago; he was the son of Edward and Leora (Dagen) Shroyer; he
7 was united in marriage to Diane F. Fox on November 2, 1972 in
8 Downers Grove; and
 
9     WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Raymond F.
10 Shroyer enlisted in the Army National Guard, serving during the
11 Cuban Missile Crisis in the Aviation Intermediate Maintenance
12 Unit, Military Police, and service at Nike Missile Sites; after
13 his tenure in the National Guard, he transferred into the Army
14 Reserves, serving at Fort Hood, Texas with the General Staff;
15 he retired from the military after 42 years of dedicated
16 service; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Raymond F. Shroyer was in the amusement business
18 for over 40 years; he was the owner of Metro Amusements in
19 Streator; he began Metro Amusements in Chicago in 1963,
20 expanding his business to provide equipment to several Illinois
21 counties, including LaSalle, Kendall, Bureau, Livingston, and
22 Grundy Counties; and

1     WHEREAS, Raymond F. Shroyer was a member of the Illinois
2 Coin Machine Operators Association for several years, serving
3 as Past President and on the association's Legislative &
4 Government Affairs Committee; he was a Vice-President and Chair
5 of the Affiliated States Committee of the national Amusement &
6 Music Operators Association; he was also a member of SERTOMA;
7 and
 
8     WHEREAS, Raymond F. Shroyer was the recipient of many
9 awards in recognition of his work, including the 2001 ICMOA
10 Distinguished Service Award, the 2003 President's Award, and
11 the 2001 Operator of the Year Award; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Raymond F. Shroyer was preceded in death by his
13 parents and his brother, Edward Shroyer; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Raymond F. Shroyer is survived by his wife, Diane;
15 his children, Raeann (Jim) Fuller, Joseph (Lynn) Shroyer, Ken
16 Shroyer, Sharon Shroyer, Liane (Michael) Maag, Donna Lewanski,
17 Janet Bradley, Mark Netrefa, and Laura White; his fourteen
18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and his
19 sister-in-law, Arlene Shroyer; therefore, be it
 
20     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we

1 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
2 Raymond F. Shroyer; and be it further
 
3     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4 presented to the family of Raymond F. Shroyer as an expression
5 of our sympathy.
