HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Georgette
4 D. Watson, who passed away on December 17, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Georgette Watson was born on December 8, 1961 in
6 Chicago; her parents were George D. Stockett Sr. and Marva Jean
7 Stockett; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Georgette Watson attended private school in
9 Chicago, graduating from Kenwood High School; after
10 graduation, she attended Chicago State University, earning her
11 bachelor's degree in education with an endorsement in special
12 education; she eventually returned to school after teaching
13 various grades, earning her master's degree in instructional
14 leadership from Northeastern Illinois University; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Georgette Watson accepted a position as Assistant
16 Principal of the Brentano Math & Science Academy in 2003 after
17 earning her master's degree; the academic scores of the school
18 increased dramatically during her first year of service,
19 earning the school recognition from the Administrative
20 Conference in the fall of 2007 for doubling its achievements in
21 both math and reading; and

1     WHEREAS, Georgette Watson was a member of Apostolic Church
2 of God; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Georgette Watson enjoyed shopping, traveling,
4 socializing, and spending quality time with her son, Henry; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Georgette Watson is survived by her loving and
6 devoted son, Henry Jones; her loving mother, Marva Jean
7 Stockett; her loving brother, George Stockett Jr.; and her many
8 aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, and friends; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Georgette Watson will be remembered by all who
10 knew and loved her as a fun-loving and caring person with a
11 beautiful smile and an outgoing disposition; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14 mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of
15 Georgette Watson; and be it further
 
16     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17 presented to the family of Georgette Watson and to the Brentano
18 Math & Science Academy as an expression of our sympathy.
