HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, Central Grocers, Inc., which is located in
3 Franklin Park, Illinois, was founded in 1917 by 6 retail
4 grocers; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Joe Caccamo has spent 52 years at Central Grocers;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, Joe Caccamo began working at Central Grocers in
8 1954 at the age of 20 as a receiving clerk in the frozen food
9 division; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Joe Caccamo was promoted to management in 1957;
11 and
 
12     WHEREAS, Joe Caccamo worked his way through the warehouse
13 and trucking operations; and
 
14     WHEREAS, In 1982, Joe Caccamo was named Vice-President and
15 General Manager; he later became President of Central Grocers,
16 Inc.; and
 
17     WHEREAS, During Joe Caccamo's tenure, Central Grocers,
18 Inc. has grown from its original 6 member companies to 225
19 member companies with annual consolidated sales of $1.2

1 billion; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Central Grocers, Inc. also owns 28 retail stores
3 through its Strack & Van Til subsidiary; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Joe Caccamo was honored in 1989 as Man of the Year
5 by the Italian charitable organization Unico; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Joe Caccamo has lent his depth of experience to
7 the Illinois Food Retailers Association and was honored as
8 their Industry Leader of the Year in 1991; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Joe Caccamo is retiring at the end of 2007 to
10 pursue his passion for golf and to spend more time with his
11 wife of 53 years, Lorraine, their 4 children, Joseph, Laura,
12 Leonardo, and Lisa, and their 12 grandchildren; therefore, be
13 it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
16 congratulate Joe Caccamo on his successful career at Central
17 Grocers, Inc. and give him our best wishes for a long and happy
18 retirement; and be it further
 
19     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20 presented to Joe Caccamo as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
