    Amends the Public Safety Employee Benefits Act. Defines "catastrophic injury" as consequences of an injury that permanently prevent an individual from performing any gainful work. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning employment.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Public Safety Employee Benefits Act is
5 amended by changing Section 3 as follows:
 
6     (820 ILCS 320/3)
7     Sec. 3. Definitions Definition. For the purposes of this
8 Act:
9     "Firefighter" , the term "firefighter" includes, without
10 limitation, a licensed emergency medical technician (EMT) who
11 is a sworn member of a public fire department.
12     "Catastrophic injury" means consequences of an injury that
13 permanently prevent an individual from performing any gainful
14 work.

16     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
17 becoming law.
