SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
220 ILCS 5/9-254 new

    Amends the Public Utilities Act. Requires an electric utility to refund a customer's electricity bill for the time during electric utility outages at the rate of $100 per day for an outage lasting between 25 or more hours and 72 or less hours, and at a rate of $200 per day for an outage lasting more than 72 hours. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding
5 Section 9-254 as follows:
 
6     (220 ILCS 5/9-254 new)
7     Sec. 9-254. Customer refunds for utility outages. An
8 electric utility must refund a customer's electricity bill for
9 the time during electric utility outages as follows:
10     (1) A refund of $100 per day for an electric utility outage
11 lasting between 25 or more hours and 72 or less hours.
12     (2) A refund of $200 per day for an electric utility outage
13 lasting more than 72 hours.
 
14     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
15 becoming law.
