SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
740 ILCS 35/1   from Ch. 29, par. 61

    Amends the Construction Contract Indemnification for Negligence Act. Provides that, in contracts or agreements for the listed types of construction, alteration, repair, or maintenance, any covenant, promise, or agreement to procure an insurance policy to indemnify or hold harmless another person from that person's own negligence is void as against public policy and wholly unenforceable.

1     AN ACT concerning civil law.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Construction Contract Indemnification for
5 Negligence Act is amended by changing Section 1 as follows:
 
6     (740 ILCS 35/1)  (from Ch. 29, par. 61)
7     Sec. 1. With respect to contracts or agreements, either
8 public or private, for the construction, alteration, repair or
9 maintenance of a building, structure, highway bridge, viaducts
10 or other work dealing with construction, or for any moving,
11 demolition or excavation connected therewith, every covenant,
12 promise or agreement to indemnify or hold harmless another
13 person from that person's own negligence and any covenant,
14 promise, or agreement to procure an insurance policy to
15 indemnify or hold harmless another person from that person's
16 own negligence is void as against public policy and wholly
17 unenforceable.
