SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with sadness of the death of Myron L. Wormley of
4 Oswego, on April 8, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Myron L. Wormley was born October 7, 1914, to
6 Arthur and Pearl (Garvey) Wormley; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Mr. Wormley attended the one-room Wormley School;
8 he was a student at the Oswego elementary school that is today
9 known as the Little White School Museum; he graduated from East
10 Aurora High School; he received his bachelor's degree in
11 agriculture from the University of Illinois; and
 
12     WHEREAS, While in college, he served as the manager for the
13 1935 Fighting Illini football team; he was loyal to his alma
14 mater and eagerly attended Illini games until his late 80's;
15 and
 
16     WHEREAS, On March 2, 1940, Myron married Frances Budd at
17 the home of her parents, Frank and Edna (Darnell) Budd, in
18 Millbrook, Illinois; Myron spoke affectionately of his wife and
19 called her "Frannie"; and
 
20     WHEREAS, After college, Mr. Wormley returned to his
21 family's land and farmed it until 1959; when, in 1957, the farm
22 reached its 100th year of operation, he designated the land as
23 "Century Acres"; and
 
24     WHEREAS, In 1959, Myron established Wormley Real Estate and
25 continued in that endeavor until his retirement in the late
26 1980's; in 1971, he and Frannie built the first home in what is
27 now Century Estates, the portion of the family farm that lies
28 along the scenic Fox River; and

1     WHEREAS, Myron L. Wormley held elective office as an Oswego
2 Township Supervisor for 25 years, following in the footsteps of
3 his grandfather, also named Myron Wormley, a long-time
4 supervisor; he was also elected to serve on the Oswego Grade
5 School Board and the Kendall County Board; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Myron L. Wormley was one of the organizers of the
7 Kendall County Historical Society; one of the driving forces
8 behind Myron's interest in and dedication to local history was
9 a fire that destroyed his family's farmhouse, heirlooms, and
10 records; his enthusiasm for the preservation of local history
11 contributed to the creation of the Historic Lyon Farm and
12 Village and the relocation of the historic Fox-Oswego House and
13 other structures to that site; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Mr. Wormley's community service included his
15 years as a Republican Precinct Committeeman and his leadership
16 as a founding director of the Oswego Community Bank; other
17 organizations that benefited from his vision and leadership
18 included the Kendall County Farm Bureau, the Grove Road Farmers
19 Club, the Oswego Lions Club, Masonic Lodge #303, and the West
20 River Agriculture 4-H Club; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Although Myron and Frances Wormley enjoyed their
22 extensive world travels which included stops on every continent
23 except Antarctica, the Oswego community was always close to
24 their hearts; accordingly, it was no surprise that Myron and
25 Frances Wormley recently donated land to the Oswego Park
26 District for the Wormley Heritage Park; and
 
27     WHEREAS, Myron had a life-long love of horses and rode
28 horses around the community until he was well into his 70's; it
29 was truly fitting that his casket was carried by a horse-drawn
30 hearse from the Oswego Presbyterian Church, through Oswego, to
31 his final resting place at the Oswego Township Cemetery; and

1     WHEREAS, Myron L. Wormley was preceded in death by four
2 infant grandsons; and
 
3     WHEREAS, The passing of Myron L. Wormley is felt by all who
4 knew and loved him, especially his wife, Frances Wormley; his
5 three children, James (Cheryl) Wormley, Jean (Paul) Rothfusz,
6 and Budd Wormley; his eleven grandchildren, Ryan (Gwen)
7 Wormley, Paul (Rosemary) Wormley, Matthew Wormley and fiancée
8 Alexis Ashley, Mark (Lydia) Rothfusz, John (Elsie) Rothfusz,
9 Anne (Shawn) Johnson, Mary (Jeffery) Foster, Adam Wormley, Sara
10 Wormley, Seth Wormley, and Kendall Wormley; his fifteen
11 great-grandchildren; his cousins, Jerry (Mary) Grauf and
12 Thomas Garvey; and his friend and caregiver, Anna Dobryanska;
13 therefore, be it
 
14     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
15 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16 Myron L. Wormley and we extend our sincerest condolences to his
17 family, friends, and the Oswego community; and be it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
20 sympathy.
