| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express |
3 |
| their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Richard |
4 |
| H. Rokop, Sr. of Aurora, who passed away on February 12, 2006; |
5 |
| and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Richard Rokop, Sr. was born on June 11, 1941 to |
7 |
| Joseph and Margaret Rokop; and |
8 |
| WHEREAS, He was the head of Aurora's downtown development, |
9 |
| director of the Buildings and Permits Department, deputy |
10 |
| director of parks and recreation, a member of the Metro Water |
11 |
| Reclamation District Board of Trustees, and a Kane county |
12 |
| Republican Treasurer; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Rokop was known for his enthusiasm for high |
14 |
| school sports; after being a teenage athlete, he became active |
15 |
| as a referee and umpire, until knee problems prevented him from |
16 |
| running up and down the court or field; in 1993, he was |
17 |
| inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall |
18 |
| of Fame as an official; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Rokop was an active member in his community; |
20 |
| he was a member of Holy Angels Parish, the Lions Club, and the |
21 |
| Phoenix Club; and
|
22 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Richard H. Rokop, Sr. will be felt |
23 |
| by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Jeanne |
24 |
| (Skiba) Rokop; his sons, Richard (Lynette) Rokop, Jr., Michael |
25 |
| (Stephanie) Rokop and their children, Zachary, Laura, and |
26 |
| Jacob, Daniel (Erica) Rokop and their children, Tyler and |
27 |
| Payton; his brother, Donald (Susan) Rokop; his niece, Kathy |
28 |
| Rokop; his nephew, Jimmy (Kristin) Rokop and their children |
29 |
| Madeline and Sofia; his nephew, Tom Rokop; his sister, Patricia |
