625 ILCS 25/4c new

    Amends the Child Passenger Protection Act. Provides that, if a passenger car has a passenger-side air bag, any child under 11 years of age must ride in the back seat, if the vehicle has a back seat.

1     AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Child Passenger Protection Act is amended by
5 adding Section 4c as follows:
 
6     (625 ILCS 25/4c new)
7     Sec. 4c. Children under the age of 11 years; passenger car
8 with a passenger-side air bag. Any person, when transporting a
9 child under the age of 11 years in a passenger car with a
10 passenger-side air bag, is responsible for securing that child
11 in a properly adjusted and fastened seat safety belt in the
12 back seat of the vehicle, if the vehicle has a back seat.
