HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that the members of the
3 House of Representatives of the State of Illinois learned of
4 the death of David F. Doty on June 27, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, David Doty was born in Baltimore on March 5, 1945;
6 as a young boy, he moved with his family to Wisconsin, where he
7 graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1967; he later
8 received a master's degree in political science from the
9 University of Iowa; and
 
10     WHEREAS, In 1970, David and Diane Doty began their marriage
11 of 35 years and moved to Illinois, where David started his
12 career with AT&T at the former Western Electric Hawthorne Works
13 in Cicero; and
 
14     WHEREAS, During his time with AT&T, Mr. Doty helped to
15 develop telecommunications policies in Illinois, Indiana,
16 Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin and was also involved in
17 developing the 1996 federal telecommunications deregulation
18 legislation; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Dave was deeply respected by his colleagues and
20 members of the Illinois General Assembly because of his
21 professionalism, honesty, leadership, and knowledge; and
 
22     WHEREAS, After rising to the position of vice president of
23 Government Affairs, David Doty retired from AT&T in October
24 2004 with thirty years of experience lobbying the Illinois
25 General Assembly; and
 
26     WHEREAS, In addition to his memorable career with AT&T, he
27 also served the public as a longtime Lyons Township
28 committeeman; and

1     WHEREAS, The passing of David Doty has been deeply mourned
2 by many, including his wife, Diana; his sons, Jeffrey and
3 Michael; his daughter, Erin; and his two grandchildren;
4 therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7 we mourn the passing of David F. Doty, who devoted so much to
8 his community and the State of Illinois, and we extend our
9 sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
10 him; and be it further
 
11     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
13 sympathy.
