HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate Mary Licata on 50
4 years of service as a member of St. Peter's Church in Chicago;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, Ms. Licata was born in Calumet City and baptized
7 at St. Victor Church; her parents, Michele and Calogera,
8 returned to Italy for a few years, then returned to Chicago;
9 she attended St. Michael Central High School for girls and went
10 to work immediately as a secretary, furthering her education in
11 night school; and
 
12     WHEREAS, In 1972, she attained the Certified Professional
13 Secretary rating and is still an active member of the Chicago
14 Lake Shore Chapter of the International Association of
15 Administrative Professionals; she taught accounting and
16 business math for several years to those studying for the CPS
17 exam; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Her life as a Secular Franciscan began at the old
19 St. Peters Church on Polk Street, where she made profession in
20 1950; she is still very involved with the St. Francis/St. Louis
21 Fraternity at St. Peter's in the Loop; and
 
22     WHEREAS, She moved to the new St. Peter's Church on Madison
23 Street in January, 1956, through the encouragement of its
24 founding pastor, Fr. Terence Thomas, where she has served
25 faithfully ever since with her secretarial skills and in many
26 capacities; today, she is still a member of the staff of St.
27 Peter's Church as Secretary of the Pastor, Fr. William Spencer;
28 and
 
29     WHEREAS, She has been a long-time member of St. Gregory
30 Parish on the north side and is quite active there as Minister

1 of Care, Minister of the Eucharist, and a Social Care
2 Volunteer; therefore, be it
 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5 we congratulate Mary Licata on 50 years of service as the
6 secretary of St. Peter's Church; and be it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to her as an expression of our esteem.
