The University of Illinois Act is amended by 5 changing Section 7f as follows: 6 (110 ILCS 305/7f) (from Ch. 144, par. 28f) 7 Sec. 7f. Partial tuition waivers. 8 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 9 university" means any of the following: the University of 10 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 11 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 12 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 13 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 14 Illinois University. 15 (b) Each year the Board of Trustees of the University of 16 Illinois shall offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate 17 education at any campus under its governance or supervision 18 to the children of (i) employees of an Illinois college or 19 university who have been employed by any one or by more than 20 one Illinois college or university for an aggregate period of 21 at least 7 years or (ii) persons receiving a retirement or 22 disability retirement annuity under the Illinois Pension Code -2- LRB093 03094 NHT 12739 a 1 based on at least 20 years of service with one or more than 2 one Illinois college or university, including persons who 3 already are receiving such an annuity on the effective date 4 of this amendatory Act of the 93rd General Assembly. To be 5 eligible to receive a partial tuition waiver, the child of an 6 employee of an Illinois college or university (i) must be 7 under the age of 25 at the commencement of the academic year 8 during which the partial tuition waiver is to be effective, 9 and (ii) must qualify for admission to the University of 10 Illinois under the same admissions requirements, standards 11 and policies which the University of Illinois applies to 12 applicants for admission generally to its respective 13 undergraduate colleges and programs. 14 (c) Subject to the provisions and limitations of 15 subsection (b), an eligible applicant who has continued to 16 maintain satisfactory academic progress toward graduation may 17 have his or her partial tuition waiver renewed until the time 18 as he or she has expended 4 years of undergraduate partial 19 tuition waiver benefits under this Section. 20 (d) No partial tuition waiver offered or allocated to 21 any eligible applicant in accordance with the provisions of 22 this Section shall be charged against any tuition waiver 23 limitation established by the Illinois Board of Higher 24 Education. 25 (e) The Board of Trustees shall prescribe rules and 26 regulations as are necessary to implement and administer the 27 provisions of this Section. 28 (Source: P.A. 90-282, eff. 1-1-98.) 29 Section 10. The Southern Illinois University Management 30 Act is amended by changing Section 8f as follows: 31 (110 ILCS 520/8f) (from Ch. 144, par. 658f) 32 Sec. 8f. The Chicago State University Law is amended 11 by changing Section 5-90 as follows: 12 (110 ILCS 660/5-90) 13 Sec. 5-90. Partial tuition waivers. 14 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 15 university" means any of the following: the University of 16 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 17 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 18 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 19 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 20 Illinois University. 21 (b) Each year the Board of Chicago State University 22 shall offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate education 23 at any campus under its governance to the children of (i) 24 employees of an Illinois college or university who have been 25 employed by any one or by more than one Illinois college or 26 university for an aggregate period of at least 7 years or 27 (ii) persons receiving a retirement or disability retirement 28 annuity under the Illinois Pension Code based on at least 20 29 years of service with one or more than one Illinois college 30 or university, including persons who already are receiving 31 such an annuity on the effective date of this amendatory Act 32 of the 93rd General Assembly. Partial tuition waivers. 10 (a) As used in this Section, "Illinois college or 11 university" means any of the following: the University of 12 Illinois, Southern Illinois University, Chicago State 13 University, Eastern Illinois University, Governors State 14 University, Illinois State University, Northeastern Illinois 15 University, Northern Illinois University, and Western 16 Illinois University. 17 (b) Each year the Board of Governors State University 18 shall offer 50% tuition waivers for undergraduate education 19 at any campus under its governance to the children of (i) 20 employees of an Illinois college or university who have been 21 employed by any one or by more than one Illinois college or 22 university for an aggregate period of at least 7 years or 23 (ii) persons receiving a retirement or disability retirement 24 annuity under the Illinois Pension Code based on at least 20 25 years of service with one or more than one Illinois college 26 or university, including persons who already are receiving 27 such an annuity on the effective date of this amendatory Act 28 of the 93rd General Assembly.
