HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the
3 State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of DeForest
4 Baskin on January 18, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mr. Baskin was born on May 24, 1918 in Buena
6 Vista, Mississippi, to Ulyssess and James Etta Baskin; he was
7 the oldest of three children; Mr. Baskin's father passed away
8 at an early age, and he moved with his mother and sisters to
9 Erie, Pennsylvania; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mr. Baskin graduated from high school and joined
11 the United States Army; he received an honorable discharge; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Mr. Baskin eventually settled in Chicago and began
13 a career with Kodak Camera; he later worked for the City of
14 Chicago Department of Water and Sewers, where he retired after
15 33 years of dedicated service; he was active in the 2nd Ward
16 democratic organization and knew how to "get out the vote"; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Mr. Baskin married Dianne Bradie after years of
18 courtship; she and daughter Tiffany brought love, joy, and
19 comfort into his life; therefore, be it
 
20     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
21 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
22 mourn the passing of DeForest Baskin, and we extend our deepest
23 sympathy to his friends, family, and all who knew and loved
24 him; and be it further
 
25     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
26 presented to the family of DeForest Baskin as an expression of
27 our sincerest condolences during their time of bereavement.
