SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
775 ILCS 5/3-105.1 new

    Amends the Illinois Human Rights Act. Makes it unlawful to coerce, intimidate, threaten, or interfere with any person in the exercise or enjoyment of, or on account of his or her having exercised or enjoyed, or on account of his or her having aided or encouraged any other person in the exercise or enjoyment of, any right granted or protected by specified provisions of the federal Fair Housing Act. Effective January 1, 2005.

1     AN ACT concerning human rights.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Illinois Human Rights Act is amended by
5 adding Section 3-105.1 as follows:
 
6     (775 ILCS 5/3-105.1 new)
7     Sec. 3-105.1. Interference, coercion, or intimidation. It
8 shall be unlawful to coerce, intimidate, threaten, or interfere
9 with any person in the exercise or enjoyment of, or on account
10 of his or her having exercised or enjoyed, or on account of his
11 or her having aided or encouraged any other person in the
12 exercise or enjoyment of, any right granted or protected by
13 Section 803 (42 U.S.C. 3603), 804 (42 U.S.C. 3604), 805 (42
14 U.S.C. 3605), or 806 (42 U.S.C. 3606) of the federal Fair
15 Housing Act.
 
16     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January
17 1, 2005.
