SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
225 ILCS 412/30

    Amends the Electrologist Licensing Act. In the qualifications for licensure, provides that, if an applicant for licensure completed a program of study before December 31, 2003, the program may be less than 600 hours if it is approved by the Department. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning professional regulation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Electrologist Licensing Act is amended by
5 changing Section 30 as follows:
 
6     (225 ILCS 412/30)
7     (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2014)
8     Sec. 30. Qualifications for licensure. A person shall be
9 qualified for licensure as an electrologist if that person has
10 met all of the following requirements:
11         (1) Has applied in writing on the prescribed forms and
12     has paid the required fees.
13         (2) Has not violated any of the provisions of Section
14     75 of this Act or the rules promulgated under this Act. The
15     Department shall take into consideration any felony
16     conviction of the applicant, but a conviction shall not
17     operate as an absolute bar to licensure.
18         (3) Is at least 18 years of age.
19         (4) Has received his or her high school diploma or
20     equivalent.
21         (5) Has completed a total of 600 hours in the study of
22     electrology over a period of not less than 16 weeks nor
23     more than 2 consecutive years at a program approved by the
24     Department. If an applicant completed a program before
25     December 31, 2003, the program may be less than 600 hours
26     if it is approved by the Department.
27         (6) Has successfully completed an examination approved
28     by the Department that tests the applicant's knowledge of
29     the theory and clinical practice of electrology.

31     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
32 becoming law.
