SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of MoDena "Mo" Stinnette, PhD., who
4passed away on April 26, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette was born on October 9, 1969; she
6was an author, mother, daughter, sister, counselor, certified
7peer recovery support specialist, professor, community
8psychologist, and personal hero to many; and
 
9    WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette spent many years of her life
10battling substance use disorder and was extremely proud of her
11recovery; and
 
12    WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette received a BA in 2007, an MBA in
132009, and a PhD. in community psychology in 2022, all from
14National Louis University, where she was an active member of
15the community, serving as president of the Student Assembly
16and participating in the Black Student Union; and
 
17    WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette published the book Inside Out in
182010; and
 
19    WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette was an avid fan of the character
20Batman; and

1    WHEREAS, MoDena Stinnette always looked out for the
2underdog, the disenfranchised, the lost, and the broken; she
3was never boastful or proud and was known as someone who would
4show up, roll up her sleeves, and help; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7MoDena "Mo" Stinnette, PhD., and extend our sincere
8condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
9her; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of MoDena Stinnette as an expression
12of our deepest sympathy.
