SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Ronald Edward "Ron" Mitchell of
4Crainville, who passed away on April 15, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ron Mitchell was born in Carbondale to Edward
6Gordon and Bernice E. (Brewer) Mitchell on August 1, 1946; he
7served in the U.S. National Guard; he married Patricia Ann
8Jones in Crainville on June 20, 2009; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ron Mitchell was a salesman for Western &
10Southern Insurance in Carbondale for 15 years; he had also
11worked at Tesa Tape for over 30 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ron Mitchell was serving as the mayor of
13Crainville for his fourth consecutive term at the time of his
14passing; he also served as president of the Crosswalk
15Community Action Board; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Ron Mitchell had a passion for music and was a
17talented guitar and piano player; there was nothing more
18joyful to him than time with his family; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ron Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents
20and his brothers, Larry Steven and Darrell "Whitey" Mitchell;

2    WHEREAS, Ron Mitchell is survived by his wife, Patty Ann
3Mitchell; his daughters, Lorie (Matthew) Barnett and Jeannie
4Mitchell (Charles Vale); his stepdaughters, Stephanie
5Weathers, Michelle Weathers, and Kimberly Weathers; his
6grandchildren, Bryce Collins, Ronnie Barnett, Daniel Barnett,
7Zoey Brantley, Phoenix Hickam, and Zanen Weathers; his
8sisters, Joyce (Ed) Fear and Darla (John) Shelby; his
9brothers, Eric Mitchell, Randy (Susie) Mitchell, and Denny
10(Effie) Mitchell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and
11friends; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Ronald Edward "Ron" Mitchell and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Ron Mitchell as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
