SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Bruce King of Moline, who passed away
4on February 20, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bruce King was born to Frank and Doris (Funk)
6King in Moline on April 21, 1936; he graduated from Moline High
7School; he served as a machinist's mate second class in the
8U.S. Navy for four years; he married Gloria Brandt at First
9Christian Church in Moline on June 1, 1963; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bruce King worked as a driver and mechanic at
11Standard Forwarding, retiring after 35 years of service; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bruce King and his wife, Gloria, enjoyed dancing,
13traveling, and following local bands, especially The Crooked
14Cactus Band; in his younger years, he coached baseball; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Bruce King was preceded death by his parents; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bruce King is survived by his wife of 60 years,
17Gloria; his children, Kevin King, Julie (David Davis) Smith,
18and Kristi (Adam) Trent; and his grandchildren, Eric (Raymond
19Marquez) Straw, Evan Smith, Kenzie Trent, and Kallie Trent;
20therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Bruce King and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
4friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Bruce King as an expression of our
7deepest sympathy.
